This smart program can solve math problems, write code, and answer questions like top models such as OpenAI’s GPT-40, but it costs much less to build. The company spent only 5.58 million dollars that is 1/70 of OpenAI’s cost, which shows that good ideas can beat big money.
A CNBC (Consumer News and Business Channel) report agreed, “DeepSeek has swept across the U. S. AI market, because it can beat American’s best AI with less cost and less-powerful chips (芯片).”
Usually, AIs need lots of prepared examples to improve. However, DeepSeek learns by itself. For example, when it is handling customer service questions or recognizing images, DeepSeek doesn’t need a lot of pre-made examples like old-style AIs. It just figures things out on its own and does a much better job. Therefore, it can help run on low-cost computers, helping schools and small companies.
What’s even better for these organizations is that DeepSeek is open-source. It’s like a shared recipe (配方). Everyone can see the ingredients and change it to suit their taste. Likewise, DeepSeek users can change the code to fit their needs without asking anyone for permission (允许). A Meta top scientist said, “This kind of free AI could change the world.”
These outstanding advantages of DeepSeek have attracted widespread attention. More and more international companies want to partner with Chinese AI labs, making China’s voice in the international AI market louder. At the same time, many foreign companies plan to put more money in AI research to develop advanced AI like DeepSeek and gain a foot-hold in this popular filed.
DeepSeek as a rising AI star, has a bright future. It can be changed for online shopping and medical imaging. Working with labs and cloud service providers will make it bigger, and the open-source community will help too. However, nothing is perfect in the world.
